NeutraHealth plc was incorporated with the strategy of creating a group of companies targeted at specific channels within the nutraceutical market. The nutraceutical market was worth over £2 billion in 2006 and includes vitamins & supplements, functional foods, organic foods and certain alternative remedies.
Our initial focus has been on the highly fragmented vitamins, minerals and supplements sector within the UK and Europe. There are several key drivers in this sector supporting growth. There is more focus on eating a healthy diet, and an emphasis on illness prevention and health maintenance to alleviate demand for primary care. There is an ageing population that requires more diet supplementation. There are regulatory changes that have raised standards across the industry and helped the sector become more trusted and mainstream.
There are distinct channels to market, with different business models and limited brand cross over between channels. The graphic below details those channels and our positioning within them.
